The Evolution of a Business

Since Smokey Ridge Meats opened in the mid-1990s, it has evolved from a small sausage and custom meat cutting business to a full scale USDA-inspected facility. The business offers onsite USDA and custom slaughter services as well as wide variety of meat processing services such as sausage stuffing, curing and smoking. Individual packages of frozen and smoked meat products can also be purchased from a small retail space in addition to a wide range of snacks, sauces and craft sodas. Smokey Ridge is now owned by Brent and Kira Olsen, who also run Olsen Farms about 20 miles north of Colville where they raise beef, pork, and lamb. The Olsens purchased Smokey Ridge in 2010 and are always looking for new ways to improve their local meat production system and better serve ranchers, hunters and meat-loving people throughout Washington state.
